Discovery Run Disneyland Paris Half Marathon

Sometimes, the everyday life can be so consuming. Right now I have many projects that are important to me (I'll let you know what's up soon).  I like to have complete control and as of late m schedule is has been pretty full. But when a last minute invitation for a mini trip to Disney World presents itself, I jumped for joy and obviously accepted!

Last Wednesday, September 16, with some friends from Paris Running Club, we embarked for Disneyland Paris to take part of the of the Semi-Marathon Inaguration, that will be held the weekend of September 23, 2016. I haven't been there for almost 10 years, so needless to say I was excited!

In the U.S., the concept of a Disney Park Race has been a hit for over 20 years. With everything from a 10K, half marathon and even babies races in diapers (yes yes you just read that!) there is a lot of activity around the race. The goal is not so much of breaking your personal best, rather, it is mainly racing for complete and utter happiness.

For its first edition, Disneyland Paris is organizing the half marathon, children's races and a 5K. The itinerary of the half-marathon is partly in the parks and within the vicinity. As I 've said, for those wishing to beat their record, let it go! There are too many opportunities for will be many photos ops! The heroes of our childhood will be present throughout the race and frankly; we all want our selfie with Mickey decked out in running gear (well at least I did).

So early on Thursday morning we covered ourselves in extra swag with our Minnie and Mickey ears and gloves and we went to the amusement park for 5K of pure joy. In addition to Mickey and White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, we had the chance to run alongside champions Marie -Jo Perec and Paula Radcliffe , I struggled to contain my joy!

We ran in the park before the opening and this experience was just magical and unforgettable! Maybe because I had not visited Disney in 10 years, but between my favorite Toon’ and fireworks, I whipped out my phone to take lots of pictures, something I do very rarely when I run.

To finish off our magical experience, we were able to enjoy a delicious special runners brunch with dried fruit, oatmeal, almond milk and a variety of breads.  If Annya could be here, she would def be in paradise, but personally, a good bunch of pancakes drizzled with maple syrup was enough to make me happy.

For the young at heart folks who just want to re-live a few hours of childhood fun on the weekend of Semi Disney Paris, go to their site. To those I have warned, you will be abble to buy the packages "hotel + bib" on the 6th of october, if you need just the bib, you need to be patient a little bit more...
